About Kindred Coast Supports

Kindred Coast Supports is a local disability support provider focused on delivering genuine, person-centred support that fits into everyday life.

We believe good support starts with listening. Every person has different routines, goals, preferences and ideas about what independence looks like, so our approach is built around the individual rather than a one-size-fits-all model.

Founded by people who began their careers working directly as support workers, Kindred Coast was created from real experience on the ground. We understand how important consistency, trust and the right support worker can be, and we aim to provide support that feels respectful, reliable and genuinely useful in day-to-day life.

Our goal is simple: to help people feel more confident, connected and in control of the support they receive.

Our Story

Kindred Coast Supports was created from years of hands-on experience working directly with participants and seeing what good support looks like in everyday life.

Both founders began their careers as support workers, spending time alongside people in their homes, in the community and as they worked towards greater independence. That experience gave us a strong understanding of how important the small things can be — having a support worker who is reliable, who listens, who respects individual choices and who takes the time to build genuine trust.

Our understanding of disability support is also personal. One of our founders has cared for a brother with disability, bringing lived experience of what it can be like for families to support someone vulnerable and to place trust in others to provide safe, respectful care.

Over time, we also saw how frustrating support can become when it feels rushed, inconsistent or disconnected from what a participant actually needs. Kindred Coast was created to offer something more personal: support that is grounded in real relationships, practical understanding and respect for each person’s way of life.

Our aim is to keep that front-line and lived experience at the heart of everything we do, so participants and their families feel heard, respected and confident in the people supporting them.

Participants should have a genuine say in how their support looks, who supports them and what they want to work towards.

Strong support relationships take time. We value reliability, familiar faces and building trust through consistency.

Every person deserves to be treated with respect, listened to and supported in a way that protects their dignity and individuality.

Independence
Our role is not to take over, but to support people to build confidence, develop skills and do as much for themselves as they choose.

Genuine Connection
Good support should feel human. We value authentic relationships, clear communication and taking the time to understand the person behind the plan.

Safety & Wellbeing
We take seriously the responsibility that comes with supporting people in their homes, communities and everyday lives.

How We Work

We believe good support starts with understanding the person, not just the plan.

We take the time to learn what matters to each participant — their routines, preferences, goals, communication style and what they want more of in their everyday life.

From there, we aim to provide support that is consistent, flexible and built around the individual. We value open communication, familiar support workers and regular feedback so that support can evolve when needs or goals change.

Our role is to work alongside participants, not take over — helping create more choice, confidence, independence and opportunity wherever possible.
